When it comes to precision manufacturing and research equipment, Drop Gear Design is no stranger to custom-made solutions. We’ve designed and assembled a number of purpose-built fixtures for use by our manufacturing and R&D partners.

This machine was developed for part inspection and correction for a company that produces deep-drawn sheet metal parts. It uses servo-controlled linear and rotational stages with a pneumatically-driven gauge head that has imbedded optical and force sensors. The machine runs a process that inspects the walls of a drawn part, identifies anomalies in the manufacturing process, then mechanically adjusts the part to fit the tolerance specs before a final round of inspection. The tool was designed to fit in visually with a number of off-the-shelf machines that were already in use at the facility.
